overview Dr. Jericho is a pediatric gastroenterologist at the University of Chicago, Comer Children’s Hospital. Dr. Jericho grew up in New London, CT in a physian-family, and completed the exclusive eight year combined degree program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) at the Ivy League’s Brown University for college and medical school in 2006. She completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 2009, and both her pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and her Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation at Northwestern University in June 2012, both top programs in her field. She joined the faculty at the University of Chicago later that year, drawn by the program’s reputation and colleague’s familial relationship. Dr. Jericho’s clinical work and research have focused on a combination of cholestatic liver disease, nutrition, functional gastrointestinal disorders and celiac disease, for which she has produced dozens of publications, peer-reviewed articles, and presentations. Her interest in pediatrics and style of working directly with her young patients started during medical school where she founded Fast Food Facts, a youth nutrition program to help increase children’s awareness of exercise, the body, and healthy food choices at home and when visiting fast food restaurants in Providence, RI. This program is a predecessor to the current posting of fast food nutritional information. At every level of her academic and professional career, Dr. Jericho is the recipient of a number of awards, including the 2003 American Medical Student Association National Jumpstart Grant, the 2010 Clinical Departments of Children’s Memorial Hospital and Children’s Memorial Research Center Tuition Scholarship, and the UChicago Medicine Pediatric Faculty Scholar Program. Dr. Jericho founded the video capsule endoscopy program at the hospital and is routinely called upon to consult other hospitals initiating this program. She is also specialized in clinical hypnotherapy which she offers as an alternative treatment for functional abdominal pain. As part of the hospital’s medical informatics and electronic medical records team, Dr. Jericho leverages technology to maximize patient care and provide a high degree of efficiency in her clinics. Dr. Jericho is also passionate about helping children suffering from constipation. In 2019 she completed a fun and informative video for families covering the topic of constipation in children. This is available on YouTube: http://Bit.ly/pedspoop. Dr. Jericho lives in Chicago’s South Loop with her husband and two children, who remind her regularly of the incredible capacity of children to learn, understand, and be highly involved in their care.
